Our Engagement Party

Being engaged is a really fun and exciting time! When both McCann and I were home for the holidays, my mom through us the sweetest engagement party. It was so fun to see family and friends all at once to celebrate! When my mom throws a party, it is nothing short of beautiful. So many cute details, delicious food and lots of laughter are always present. We are so thankful for this time together. Take a peek at some of the pictures I snapped quickly before guests arrived!

We had a few appetizers, lots of desserts and some champagne to celebrate! My grandma helped my mom put together the displays (and she baked these amazing black and white shortbread cookies!)

Traditional wedding cookies

We got lucky with Whole Foods selling peonies at the time of the party :)

My favorite cupcakes, Kara's Cupcakes, was a favorite:

Infused water and a fun cocktail punch mixed drink

We set up a cute table with pictures of both McCann and I as babies, and then framed some engagement pictures, too.

I have saved one flower from each bouquet McCann has given me, so I laid those out in front of the collection of pictures. So special!

My parents with the two of us:

Thanks for the thoughtful party, mom! We felt celebrated and so loved.

We even received a few little gifts. We opened lots of celebratory champagne, gift cards, the Newlywed Cookbook (SO EXCITED to use this-- I should start practicing!) and my girlfriends from high school got me adorable Kate Spade Mrs. earrings

Can't wait to continue sharing pieces of our planning and engagement. Please let me know in the comments if there's a specific topic you want to hear about!

Happy Tuesday:)

Brit + Co DIY Jewelry Tray

Have you guys heard of Brit + Co? It's a super fun blog that offers inspirational content, Do It Yourself kits, and online classes! Brit + Co has teamed up with Rocksbox, my favorite subscription box EVER, to create this adorable DIY your own jewelry tray kit. I was able to test it out and see how it worked, so I could share the results with all of you and here it is! It was fun to make, super easy, really relaxing (have you ever played with clay or playdoh?! So soothing) and I have myself a really cute jewelry tray.

This new year, Brit+Co and Rocksbox teamed up to bring you this gorgeous DIY: the Marbled Jewelry Tray Kit. Grab a kit for yourself and keep scrolling to learn how to make your own...

Materials:
white oven-bake clay
colorful oven-bake clay
gold paint pen

Tools (not included in kit) Butter knife Baking Tray

Instructions:
  1. Break off one section of white and one section of colored clay and twist them around each other. Keep twisting and kneading your clay until you have an evenly dispersed, marbled pattern and flatten it into a circle measuring about three inches in diameter.
2. Grab one more section of white clay, flatten it into another circle of about the same size and layer it underneath your marbled circle.
3. Using a butter knife, carefully trim off the uneven edges of your two-layer clay circle and then pinch the edges of your clay circle upwards so that it forms a lip all the way around. I found that pressing it with a round vase helped me cut a more perfectly round circle.

5. Bake in a 275º F oven for about 25 minutes.

6. Once cooled, paint the edges of each tray with your gold paint pen.

All of this gorgeous jewelry is from my subscription with RocksboxAppropriately named, each month (or more, depending on how often you want to get new jewelry!) you will receive this cute little box in your mail box. Inside there will be 3 new pieces of jewelry for you to wear on loan until you decide you want to send them back (in a prepaid package) for 3 more new pieces. If you love an item of jewelry in your box, you can purchase the jewels at a discounted price. It's such a simple and fun process!

Here's the best part: if you sign up using the code michaelanoelledesignsxoxo you will get your first month's box for FREE just to see how fun and easy it is.

I couldn't resist a shot of my ring in the little dish:)

Isn't it fun? Which color clay would you choose? There are 4 options. Make your own set of Marbled Jewelry Trays at home and show us how you would style them to match your own unique personality! Share with us on Instagram @rocksbox and @britandco using the hashtag #iamcreative. Can't wait to see if you make one.

Have a wonderful Thursday!

Decorate with Pantone Colors of the Year

Have you guys heard of the Pantone Color of the Year? Of course you have :) Did you know that this year is the first year they chose TWO colors of the year? Meet Rose Quartz & Serenity. I'm smitten over the pairing. Here's what Pantone Executive Director has to say about the two colors:

"As consumers seek mindfulness and well-being as an antidote to modern day stresses, welcoming colors that psychologically fulfill our yearning for reassurance and security are becoming more prominent. Joined together, Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace."

I love that-- soothing sense of order and peace. We could all use a little more of that! Today I'm showing you the two colors used in interiors and tomorrow I'll show you the two used in fashion.
